Chauffeur service for Christmas shopping: Range Rover chauffeur car outside Harrods, Knightsbridge

A sample four-hour Mayfair, Bond Street and Knightsbridge route (£288)

Four hours is the minimum for hourly hire and, for most people, the right length for a focused afternoon. For example, here is a realistic December itinerary starting from a Mayfair hotel. Distances are short, so the 20 miles included are more than enough.
  • 12:00 Collection from your hotel or home. The chauffeur already has your list, as well as the order you would like to visit stores.
  • 12:10 to 13:15 New Bond Street and Old Bond Street. The car drops you at one end and shadows you. When you want to hand over bags, message the chauffeur and he meets you at the kerb.
  • 13:15 to 13:45 Mount Street and South Audley Street for the smaller boutiques, or a quick lunch stop if you prefer.
  • 13:45 to 14:45 Selfridges on Oxford Street. Meanwhile, the chauffeur waits nearby and returns to the door on your signal.
  • 14:45 to 15:00 Drive to Knightsbridge via Park Lane while you review what remains on the list.
  • 15:00 to 15:50 Harrods and Sloane Street. Taxi and car drop-off for Harrods is on Basil Street, directly outside Door 3. That is exactly where your chauffeur will be.
  • 16:00 Finally, return to your hotel with every bag carried in for you.
If the day runs on, the hire simply extends by the hour at the same rate, with 10 further miles included per additional hour.

The Knightsbridge and Harrods afternoon

Knightsbridge certainly deserves its own afternoon in December. Harrods opens 10am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 11.30am to 6pm on Sunday, so an afternoon start still leaves plenty of time. The store’s own guidance is that taxi drop-off and pick-up is on Basil Street, and there is a car park on Brompton Place. Your chauffeur handles all of that, and we then add parking at cost into your quote.

From Harrods it is then a two-minute drive to Sloane Street for the flagship boutiques, and a few minutes more to Harvey Nichols, the Berkeley or the Mandarin Oriental for tea. The pattern of a Christmas shopping chauffeur service is the same throughout: you shop, the chauffeur waits, bags go into the boot as you go and, above all, you carry nothing further than the pavement. For an evening finish, the chauffeur can also drop you at a restaurant and deliver the day’s purchases to your hotel concierge on the way.

Bicester Village day trip on the out-of-town rate (£768)

Bicester Village is roughly 60 miles from central London, so allow 60 to 90 minutes each way depending on traffic on the M40. That makes it a natural fit for our out-of-town day rate: eight hours minimum with 150 miles included. Prices are from £768 in a Mercedes E-Class, £960 in a Mercedes S-Class or V-Class, and £1,248 in a Range Rover, all VAT inclusive.

A typical day: collection at 09:00, arrive Bicester around 10:15 before the crowds, four to five hours on site with the car parked and bags dropped off as often as you like, and home by 17:00. Compared with the train and a taxi at each end, you keep your purchases with you, and there is no need to limit what you buy to what you can carry. The return journey, meanwhile, is a quiet hour in the back of the car rather than a crowded carriage. If you would rather fold in a lunch stop at Le Manoir or a detour to Oxford, tell us when you book and we will time it.

Which chauffeur car for Christmas shopping?

  • Mercedes E-Class (from £72/hr): ideal for one or two people with a normal shopping haul.
  • Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series (£90/hr): the same boot space with more rear-seat comfort for a long day.
  • Mercedes V-Class (£90/hr, six passengers): the answer for families, groups of friends and anyone buying large items. Bags stack in the rear without touching the passenger cabin, so everyone travels together in comfort.
  • Range Rover (£132/hr, four passengers): for those who want the presence of an SUV with a generous boot.
Every car has Wi-Fi, chargers and water. In addition, every chauffeur on our Christmas shopping service holds a DBS check and a licence, wears a suit and has at least three years’ chauffeur experience.

Late-night shopping, the Christmas lights and your chauffeur

London’s Christmas lights on Oxford Street and Regent Street typically go on in early November; the organisers had not published the 2026 dates when we wrote this, so check nearer the time. Once the lights are up, an evening booking works well: an hour of shopping on Regent Street, a slow drive along Oxford Street, Bond Street and Piccadilly to see the displays, and dinner to finish. Harrods stays open until 9pm Monday to Saturday, and many West End stores extend their hours in December; individual boutiques on Bond Street vary, so check before you plan a late visit. Where an evening booking attracts a late-night supplement, your fixed quote shows it before you confirm. In other words, there are no surprises on the invoice.

How to book a Christmas shopping chauffeur service for December

December Saturdays, the week before Christmas and Christmas Eve are the busiest days of our year for the shopping chauffeur service, so book as early as you can, ideally two to three weeks ahead for a specific car. Give us your start point, the stores in the order you would like to visit them, the number of passengers and a rough idea of how much you expect to buy; we will recommend the vehicle and send a fixed quote. You can also amend the itinerary on the day by simply telling your chauffeur. Our On-Time Guarantee applies to every booking, and if your visitors are arriving for the trip, we can also collect them from the airport first; see airport chauffeur.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a chauffeur cost for an afternoon of Christmas shopping?

From £288 for four hours in a Mercedes E-Class, including VAT and 20 miles. By comparison, a Mercedes S-Class or a six-seat V-Class is £360 for four hours, and a Range Rover £528. Extra hours then cost the same hourly rate, with 10 additional miles each. We also add parking at cost and show it in the quote.

Can the chauffeur hold my purchases while I shop?

Yes. That is one of the main reasons people book a Christmas shopping chauffeur service. Bags go into the locked boot as you leave each store and stay with the car, and the chauffeur stays with the car throughout. Finally, at the end of the day the chauffeur carries everything to your door or hands it to your hotel concierge.

How much is a chauffeur to Bicester Village?

From £768 in a Mercedes E-Class on the out-of-town rate: eight hours minimum with 150 miles included, which comfortably covers the roughly 120-mile round trip from central London. Likewise, a Mercedes S-Class or V-Class is £960 and a Range Rover £1,248, all VAT inclusive. In addition, we add parking at the village at cost.

Can I book a chauffeur for Christmas Eve?

Yes, we operate 24/7 including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but demand is high and availability tight. Book as early as possible, and note that Harrods and most stores close earlier on 24 December, so plan a morning start. Your fixed quote shows any holiday supplement before you confirm.

Can a group of six go together?

Yes. The Mercedes V-Class seats six passengers plus the chauffeur, at £90 per hour with a four-hour minimum (£360) or £672 for a full day in London. Bags go in the rear without crowding the cabin, so the whole party travels together between Bond Street, Knightsbridge and dinner.
